Through the railings

1 World Trade Center through railings on the boardwalk on the other side of Hudson

You have to try and do something cool with your composition. You want to create something new or something interesting but often it is just the pursuit of something different. Often just for the sake of it. While it is an interesting learning experience, it often leads to compositions that, while cool, might not stand for anything in particular.

And this one seems like that to me. It is a pleasing picture but one that doesn't really tell a story. This is a common trend now. And in some ways, it is forced on us by the overabundance of artistic photography. One look at the popular photos on 500px or even good old Flickr makes you realize that realistic, documentary photography has no place or at least nowhere interesting to go.

And you suddenly realize that we've entered the "fantasy" era of photography. So let's enjoy it as we must enjoy everything pop culture throws at us.
