We rediscovered the wonder Fort Tryon Park in The Bronx in New York City last year and made it a point to visit it multiple times. It is one of those rare quiet city spots that manages to be utterly charming and quiet at the same time. Not too far from the city and yet not too near, it is almost perfect for a spring or summer day. It is currently our favorite spot in the big city. 

The land was gifted to the City by John D. Rockefeller in 1917. The park was designed in 1935 by the Frederick Law Olmsted Jr., son of the architect of Central Park. 

It features beautiful flower gardens. 

It hosts an impressive extension of the Met museum. 

You are offered fantastic views of the Hudson river and the George Washington Bridge.

The park also features 'New Leaf and Bar', a wonderful upscale but casual restaurant. Perfect for lunch or tea.
