300!

We were very fortunate to be in Greece for her 300th week. What better place than the cradle of Western thought to wrap this up.

This marks the end of my 2nd 300-week "photo-of-the-week" project. I did a project for both my little girls to mark the first 300-weeks of their life. I started the first project in January of 2007 and completed it in June of 2012. I started the second project in September of 2009 and completed it earlier this year in June. For three years I ran both projects together. Over the 8 year period, I took thousands of pictures of the kids (about 20,000 photos between the two) but made sure I picked one decent representative shot of the week. This meant I had to take a bunch of pictures every week, week after week, without any gap.

The projects were an important part of my life for 8 years. Doing anything that long consistently is hard. Much harder than it seems. Taking a photo a week in today's photo crazy world doesn't sound that difficult but it actually is. Life tends to get in the way. You have work. You travel. Kids are not in the mood and sometimes you aren't. And then there are weeks in which you just don't have a good photo. Then you resort to photoshop and try to take something crappy and make it good. Fun stuff and not-so-fun stuff.

It is over now. I still their pictures and neatly arrange them week by week. I just don't post them online anymore. I hope it will be fun some day when we are old and gray and kids are far away and we'd have is these photos to remind us of our beautiful old times. That is all I can ask.
