Thirassia
Thirassia is a small island in the caldera of Santorini, the volcanic Greek island in the Cycladic archipelago. It is a short boat ride from the main island. It is under 10 square kilometers and inhabited by less than 500 people.
It is a great spot for a quite lunch at the handful of restaurants and ice-cream shops at the banks near the shallow clear waters of the Adriatic sea. The water is unbelievably blue and crystal clear. Kids of all ages can frolic and have fun.
Thisassia makes you feel like you truly are far away. There is no rush to get anywhere or to do anything. You can, for once, for a short time, be fully in the moment.
Thisassia is a beautiful, relaxing place - something that actually rings true for all of Greece - for a tourist anyway.
Here are some photos from my short stop at the island last year.
