This attempt from REM comes rather quickly after their largely unnoticed previous album 'UP'. Probably not giving them enough time to come up with strong forceful lyrics or rhythms.

Some of the songs are good -- 'All the way to Reno', 'Imitation of Life', 'Summer Turns to High', etc. Most others are very background -- something you play when doing something else.

Lost somewhere between the great 'Automatic for the people' and the average 'Up', 'Reveal' will probably grow on you with time -- but then who has the time these days to let things grow on them.
