Metroland (an English suburb) is a tale of urban conformity that comes with approaching middle age accompanied by basic material pleasures that are obviously intoxicating.

Chris (Bale) is a happily married man doing a regular job and living a regular life. When Toni, his high school friend, comes along and reminds him how they had vowed to fight Metroland - the state of mind, Chris is forced to re-evaluate his choices.


The only real reason to watch the movie is to see the charming french actress Elsa Zylberstein who plays Chris's lover in Paris. She is a breath of fresh air in an otherwise over moralizing and unhinged tale.
