Philly Half Marathon - always late

We have never reached anywhere on time. Period. There is no denying this. We just haven't. No matter how hard we try there is just no way that we can get to a place on time.

Take the example of this year's Philly Half Marathon that Shika was running. We decided to leave at about 8 hoping to get their by 9.30. Philly is about 70 miles or so. We also assumed that it was going to take Shika 2 hours and 30 minutes to run 12.1 miles.

By the time we fed Akshra and got out it was close to 8.30. We made good time but didn't rush thinking we still had two hours to make it. So, we had to take exit 4 on the Turnpike and busy with our chatter we missed the exit. Anyone who has driven in Jersey knows that you cannot miss an exit on the Turnpike. It took us almost 20 minutes to recover. We also miscalculated how long it was going to take us from the where we park our car to the Marathon starting point.

In any case, by the time we met Shika it was about 10.30 and Shika was done at about 10.10. She had run the race in an incredible 2 hours and 6 minutes. So, we were never going to catch her no matter what.
