Tiny Rose

tiny rose

I am very fond of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and have had the pleasure of taking many photos there. This year's trip was a bit of a bummer with the crowds and the heat. However, I did get to capture this tiny rose - barely an inch across.

I don't quite get the Macro photography stuff yet. It is hard. You need the right lens and you need the right moment. No sun, no breeze - everything perfectly still but still well-lit. And of course the composition is everything. Too little depth-of-field and you barely get anything and too much and there isn't any drama left in the photo. And then of course, the same avalanche of choices in post-processing.

Most of all you need is time. A commodity so short in supply, it sometimes feel that the whispered rumors of its eminent presence are greatly exaggerated.
