I was never much into Star Wars so the appeal of Carrie as Princess Leia was limited to me. I didn't quite realize why she could not build a bigger career on that massive fame. Only later I realized it was probably, at least partly, due to her bipolar disorder and consequent descent into addiction. 

Seems like no one is getting out of this alive.
