Nevada Smith: doesn't add up

35-year old Steve McQueen playing 16-year old, mixed-blood kid searching for his parents killers and hardening up along the way. Doesn't quite add up. 

I love Steve McQueen as much as one is supposed to I guess and I get the point that revenge is a strong if troubled driver but Nevada Smith doesn't add anything new to that trope.  

And this is somehow a prequel to the Harold Robbins's Carpetbaggers? Very strange.
