I booked a restaurant on Opentable and on checking in I got a notification on the iPhone that I could pay using Apple Pay right on the phone. A bit creepy, but Intriguing, I thought.
Then as the meal progressed and I placed orders - I got another notification that presented me a view of my check, offered to add a tip and pay. I used my thumb to Apple Pay and that was that.
I did not ask the waiter to get me a check. I did not have to give them my credit card. I did not have to calculate the tip. I did not have to sign. I paid and I just walked out.
Mind blown.
Apple Pay has made paying for things in the physical world as "fun" (or at least painless) as paying in the digital world.
Apple Pay is definitely the best product apple has made in years. Don't think it gets the credit it deserves - mostly because not enough businesses accept it. Hopefully that would change but cannot change soon enough for me.
