This tale of Christian 'Taliban' and their fight against a woman philosopher in Roman Egypt in the 5th century is worth watching simply because you need to know this story. Not the best made film but certainly a film that needs to be watched. Rachel Weisz as Hypatia is somewhat convincing and Amenabar (who made the brilliant The Others) seems a bit out of sorts but does a good enough job of communicating this tale of Alexandria that will keep you entertained and, given your disposition for such things, will probably break your heart.
