How long does it take for civilization to come crashing down?

72 hours apparently. That's how long it took after Hurricane Katrina hit when doctors in a major hospital in New Orleans decided to start euthanizing patients to reduce their suffering and optimize resources. 

72 hours.

We really are living on a powder keg.
